Voyager Koa Guitar Tee

The Reb Beach Voyager, originally produced by Ibanez, stands as the iconic guitar most associated with Reb, especially during the early years of his career with the multi-platinum band, Winger.

Designed by Reb "on the back of a napkin on a plane flight when I'd had quite a bit to drink," the guitar's design reflects features from some of Reb's favorite guitars of the time, notably the Steinberger GM model with its distinctive rear cutout.

Collaborating closely with the Ibanez Custom Shop, Reb selected exotic woods that not only provided a stunning appearance but also delivered exceptional tonal qualities. The Voyager boasted a top crafted from Hawaiian Koa, complemented by the more traditional mahogany for the body's back. The neck and fingerboard were carved from one-piece Bolivian Rosewood (Pau Ferro), prized for its tight grain pattern and strength under stress. Reb often praises Pau Ferro for its role in maintaining tuning stability during temperature changes while on tour.

The Voyager came equipped with the original Floyd Rose double-locking tremolo system, a staple on all of Reb's guitars, featuring a unique rout behind the bridge to facilitate his trademark pull-ups on the bar. Additionally, EMG active pickups were employed, with an ‘85 in the bridge position and two single-coil SA's.

Throughout its production years, the Voyager appeared in various iterations, ranging from the top-tier RBM2NT to the Korean-made RBM10 models.

Reb's original Voyager prototype found a new home with a collector in the late 1990s, sealed through what Reb humorously describes as a transaction involving "copious amounts of cash and Coors Light!" Despite its battle scars, with even the plastic on the EMGs worn away, the guitar toured the world, consistently delivering an amazing sound.
